A Letter to the Principal
Dear Mrs. _______,
There is a problem at our school! All three girls' bathrooms are dirty! The toilet paper holder is breaking off the bathroom stall by the cafeteria. There is also graffiti in that bathroon in the last stall. Emily L. and I think that it is too much work for Rick to clean up. (the custodian)
Once I really saw three girls in 4 or 5 grade putting water in their hands and then throwing it all over the bathroom. I think that is not acceptable bajavior. Do you? Emily L and i got the idea of doing this letter because we are learning about sending letters to the mayor. You are a teeny bit like the mayor of the school. Continuing with the problem, will you please fix the toilet paper holder? Our solution is that people need to be CLEANER! Will you please remind the students at morning opening? We will volunteer to do it! Did you know that when Emily was going to the K-3 bathroom it was flooded? That is why we got the idea of doing this letter. Really, it is a lot of work for Rick the Janitor. Will you grant our request?
Hope you approve,
Sabina and Emily L.
P.S. Share this with the school please.
P.S. (again) May I scedual a appontment with you to talk about this?

For my party I am going to have a Fairy Tale Theme. People will come in costumes. I am going to be the Sugar Plum Fairy. We might play pin the crown on the princess or frog, musical statues and the hula hoop game. My mom is going to help me make fairy tale worksheets too.
Here is my birthday list:
* A digital camera
* A Hello Kitty Binder you can zip up
* To use the internet on my computer so I don't have to use mommy's anymore
* A gift certificate to a book store
* A Polly Pocket magnet house
I really just like anything.

My Week
On Wednesday I went to high school with my Bubbe and I made new friends.
One of them was Adela. Adela was nice to me. She is pretty. The students´ final assignment was to make a game. Her group´s game was Jeopardy. I went to the bookroom twice with the kids because they needed to return books. The first trip was really, really long. Other friends I made were Carlos, Adriana, Jazmín, Flor, Priscilla, Elizabeth, Nacho and Edgar and the other Adriana.
Thursday I went to Court! I saw Ana, the secretary at my tío Nebur´s new office. Court was OK. Guess what? I drew a picture of the judge (Judge Steffen). At Court, tío made me petrified. He petrified me because once he went outside and left me with the other people, like the bailiff and the judge. The audience was outside. After that there was this one lady who said "I´m the nice one here." That´s enough about Court. The I went back to the office. I made a book about Ana. Two pages had pictures on them. Correction. Three pages had pictures on them. Five pages had words, like "I like you, Ana. You are really, really nice." Stuff like that.
Today I went to Grandmother´s apartment. I packed eight books with me: One Amber Brown, one Josefina in Spanish, and seven in English. We went for a walk. We walked passed the beauty shop, we went to the library that had more than ten dolls in there about the presidents´s wives! We went to the gift shop and Grandmother bought me a sewing kit. It is so cool. It has thread, tape measure, scissors, safety pins, needle holder, bobbins, needle threader, a thimble, buttons and snap fasteners. We made waffles and apples with cinnamon and sugar. It was SOOOOO good. Did I mention waffles with jam and syrup? Did I mention her lady bug waffle iron?
And that is how I spent my week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

La Pizza - I wrote it!!!

La pizza
(música: “La bamba”)
Para hacer una pizza se necesita
la salsa de tomate y otra cosita
y arriba y arriba la tiraré
la tiraré la tiraré.
Coro:
Pizza, pizza
Pizzería, pizzería, pizzería. (2 veces)
Para hacer una pizza se necesita
un poco de queso y la masita
y arriba y arriba la tiraré
la tiraré, la tiraré.
Coro
Para hacer la pizza mía se necesita
un poco de gracia y mucho amor
y mucho amor, y mucho amor.
Coro
¡Pizza!
¡A comer la pizza!

My Third Tooth
The first time I lost my tooth I got $5. The second time I got $3. This time, I think I will get $20. My Bubbe said that last time she thought that the Tooth Fairy only gave me $3 because she didn't get her paycheck yet. This time, the Tooth Fairy HAD to have gotten her paycheck by now! I will tell you tomorrow how much I got.

Baking Day
Thundercake is a story by Patricia Polacco. It is about a girl who is afraid of the thunder. Her grandma makes a cake with her so that she won't be afraid of the thunder because she is busy cooking. There is a special ingredient in Thundercake, tomatoes! At first I thought I wouldn't like the cake because of the tomatoes. It was excellent though.
Chango bars come from a story called Jalapeño Bagels by Natasha Wing. Jalapeño Bagels is about a boy wondering what he can bring to school to eat on Heritage Day. His mom and dad have a bakery. His dad is Jewish and his mom is Mexican. They bake things in their bakery that are Mexican and Jewish. The boy finally decides to bring Jalapeño Bagels because they are a mixture of both of his parents. We didn't make the bagels but we did make another recipe in that book called Chango Bars. Chango bars are like chocolate chip cookies but in bars not in cookie shapes. I don't like them because they have nuts. My Bubbe likes them though. She goes nuts for NUTS!
After we baked, Mahi and I painted picture frames and then we played.
If you want the recipes for these desserts you can go to my Mom's blog HERE and get them. You should try them. They are delicious!

The Great Brain!
The funniest part in the book is when Tom charges everyone money to come in to their house to see the new watercloset in their house. They lived before toilets came in houses. Their was the first one to get one in their town because their Papa was crazy for new inventions. Everyone thought they thought they were crasy to have a toilet in their house because it would make the house stink! When Tom made the kids pay to see the toilet inside there was a sign that said "See the magic water closet that doean't stink. Admission one penny cash - no promises or credit!"
We are going to go and get the next book called More Adventures of the Great Brain later on today.

Straight Hair
First she cut my hair. Then she blow dryed my hair. After that she used a flat iron to sraighten my hair. It took a long time but I like it.
After that, my mommy took me to the picture studio and we got my picture taken with my new hair cut.

Peace Day
Today I went to a Peace event at the park. There was a bell that was ringing for all of the people who died in the war. Some people made posters and stood there holding them for people to see. There was a kid corner too. In the kid corner kids could build with blocks, play with play-doh, read some books, draw, write and have fun. I got to help some little kids there too. I wrote a poem about peace there.
Non-Violence:
Peace is better than violence
Love not hate
Love not war
For all people give a
little of what you have and...
Love
It was fun to go to the park. A photographer from the Modesto Bee came and took pictures. I might be in the paper!

My New Haircut
After that we went to a park to play. When we were done at the park we went to eat at a restaurant called La Parilla.
Now I am doing my homework!
San Francisco
We went to Pier 39 to see the tuilps at Tulipmania.
There weren't that many tulips at Tulipmania. We thought there would be a lot more. When we were there, we went on the Carousel.
After that we went walking to The Mechanical Museum by Firsherman's Wharf. The museum has lots of old mechanical games from amusement parks and carnivals. It was fun.
They even had the arm wrestling machine that was in the Princess Diaries movie.
Then we drove to Twin Peaks.
We could see all of San Francisco from way up there. After that we went to eat at a restaurant called El Zocalo. They had food from Mexico y El Salvador. I ate some flautas and my mom ate pupusas. To drink I had a Jarritos de mandarina.
We came home late and I was tired but it was a fun day. I was tired but I still had some energy to read before I went to bed!
