School!

There are only a few weeks until school starts. I am soo excited! Friends, new friends old friends, fiends you haven't seen since the third grade... I can not wait to see all my friends from my old school and all my friends from Cunningham. I miss them, but I kinda don't. We don't really have a chance to miss each other if we are always talking to each other on the phone which we have done. We figured out a way to use cell phones and do conference calls so its pretty fun. I havent gotten school supplies yet but I am excited to go and get them.
In school, my favorite things to do are E.L.A and orchestra.
I am going to add a thing to my blog that after every post I ask a question. This posts question is: What is your faveorite thing to do in school?

Wow

What a long time it has been since I have written on this blog. Well, I am going back to school on the 16 of August! Yay! I am really excited! I am going to Dutcher Middle School! Im 1 of the 250 new students there. That is really cool. Our schools layout is fantastic, but I am sidetracking.

How was your summer? My summer was ok. I did a lot but it felt like nothing. My grandpa came to visit from Panama which was really fun. I had a sleepover with two of my friends, Ashanti and Odalys. We made a lot of wacky videos, it was really fun. My mom is getting a promethian board for he classroom and i am helping work to clean and prepare. Sometimes my friends come and help too.

I have been a sixth grader for about two months. Mr. Vallerga is the coolest teacher in the history of the world. I know I say that about everyone, but this time it is true. He is SO nice, all my peers and his colleagues loves him. But anyway, we just went to Outdoor Ed. It was awesome! It was in Sonora and is is called Foothill Horizons. (Bring back memories anyone?) We had the time of our lives there. We all had a blast. We learned the true identities of some people, we can now identify trees and we learned how to stand in a freezing river and splashing your face in it. You know what I just thought of? Are people in other schools still your peers even if they don't go to your school, but you still know them? If you know, tell me please. Until next time, BYE!!!

Hatchet - What Would I Do March 2009

Fire. What do I know about fire? I think. Missions, Club Penguin! Paper! I set off some find some stray paper. Down by the lake two things catch my eye. A snake and some newspaper. The only bad thing is that the snake is on the newspaper. Do I know anything about distractions? Loud noises. I find a huge rock and throw it and it makes a loud CRASH! The snake moves swiftly towards the noise and I move as fast as my legs can carry me and I grab the paper. Then I run back home. Home, I think, I call it home now.

I start hammering on the rock after I place the paper on it. The sparks caught on the paper, but it needs something more. Tree bark! I remember reading about tree bark I my How to Survive the Wilderness book. It said to roll tree bark in to a little ball. Outside, I see dead trees with bark hanging off of them. I grab as much of it as I can and put it on the shelter floor. I do this about five times. I feed some to the fire. I have enough to last for a while.

I think about the searchers. People have to be searching for me, right? Maybe they would find me if I moved somewhere different. Tomorrow I will put all of my possessions in my pockets. It’s getting dark and I have not been bitten bye a mosquito. The fire must be like a shield. No worries. I will think about this in the morning. Now, it is time to sleep.

Bye lake, birds, bears, berries. Bye home. I set off for the big hike and I didn’t stop for 1 hour. It is tough work. Then I find an open area and rest for an hour. Off in the distance, about ten miles from here I see a light. I head for it. I run as fast as I can and I am all tired out when I get there. It is a little town! I look around for a pay phone and call my dad. Turns out he is only an hour away. Now all that’s on my mind is The Secret. Is she with him? What are they doing? How will dad react? The Secret.

When dad pulls up he get’s out and starts hugging me. I try to get into the car as soon as I can. “Hey girl! How are you? Are you O.K.? I have been worried sick about you”, says dad. “I am fine.” I say. But you won’t be, I add in my head silently. “Are you hungry?” “Yes, starving”, I say “Pizza?” “Pizza it is” says dad. My insides are getting tighter. I want to throw up. I have butterflies in my stomach. I know what I have to do. “Dad, I do not know how to say this, but I need to tell you something.”

I am now an official sixth grader!!! On Friday, we had the best time. It was the last day of school! We did not have desks, so we sat on the floor. Amir brought a McDonalds kids meal for everyone. I brought cookies and Angel G. brought cupcakes. I quote "High Cholesterol here I come!" by Angel G. The day before that, my class went to Mr.Aikmans house. It was so cool! He has an endless pool. We played with it and it was very cool! Bye!

State Reports

Hi. As you may know, I am in fifth grade. In fifth grade you have to do a state report. My state is on Tennessee. People like Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Chad Pennington, Ed" Too Tall" Jones, Elvis and Reese Witherspoon anre from there. I love Tennessee. So anyway, I will tell you all when my state report is finished. So TTFN. Toodles!!!

Hopes and Wishes - Vocab Assignment 10/23/08

Hopes are when someone desires to have something happen in the future, and there is a good chance it will happen. Wishes are when someone wants something to happen now that may or may not come true. Everyone has hopes and wishes. When you really hope for something, you want to work really hard to see it happen. Wishes are good because they can be fun think about. However, wishes can be bad because if you wish too much, you will never get anything done. I have many hopes and wishes.

I have many wishes. One of my wishes is a fancy tree mansion that is made up of four houses in a square, but they are still on the ground, and the only way to get to the one of the other houses, is to walk on a bridge. My second wish is that math could be easy. I envy people who are good at math. Another one of my wishes is to actually pet a unicorn, just to see what it is like. My last wish is to read one million books in one week. I know these wishes wont come true, but it is fun to think about, especially when you are having a bad day. When you are having a bad day you can dream about your wishes, and add more stuff to them.

I also have many different kinds of hopes. Some of my hopes for this year are, to pass my last multiplication holey card and to ace my STAR and CST tests. To achieve this, I have to persevere, and always do my best. My hopes for my life after elementary school are to, stay in touch with my friends, go to Harvard School of Law, be the best lawyer in the world. I also aspire to beat my uncle Ruben in Scrabble. For this set of hopes, I have to take time for my friends, learn some new words, and work really hard in high school. My hopes for my family are for them to be healthy and strong. My hopes for the world are for Barack Obama to win the election and that when I grow up and have a child, the Polar Bears have not gone extinct by all of the Global Warming. Alone I cannot do all of these, but I can make a difference. We can work together to make things happen. For example, to prevent Global Warming, we can use less energy and every little things count.

The Life and Times of Barack Obama

The person I would like to talk about today is President Elect Barack Obama. I have chosen to talk about him because he is inspiring. He inspired me and maybe other children to run for president someday. He is the first African-American to run for president, and be successful. Obama is sending the message that, yes, we can do what we believe in.

Barack Hussein Obama Jr. was born on August 4.1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. From age six to age twelve, Barack lived in Indonesia. Obama ‘s inspiration is his father. Even though he grew up without a dad he thinks that he will learn from that and be a better father for his daughters, Malia and Sasha. When going to college, Obama got a degree, from Occidental college with international relations. In 1988, he attended Harvard Law School and earned his law degree.

Later on, Barack Obama became Senator Barack Obama for the state of Illinois. After that, Barack ran for president, and he won! A few of Obama’s supporters are Operah Winfrey, George Clooney, Macy Gray, Halle Berry and Hillary Clinton. A lot of his supporters were young people Hillary Clinton will be our secretary of state. One of Barack’s biggest blessing is his family. Michelle, wife, Malia, daughter, Sasha, daughter. Hopefully, Obama will live much longer and our world will be full of hope.

My Friends

I have friends at school. Two of my friends are named Alexis and Anthony! They are both great. Other friends are called Angel. G and Angel.A, Simrendeep, Cassandra, Uirel, Braulio, Jacob, Brian, Zion, Marcus, Amir, Maria, Brandon, Ansley, Mandip, Luisangel, Yasbeth, Elizabeth, Natasha, Shelbly, Bryan.V, Arturo, Jorge, Patrick, Jessica, Candy and Reina.

Other friends are Odalys and Osmany, Mahima, Griffin and Noah. My friend living far away is Julie. I miss her a lot. Those are most of my friends.

Birthday, Birthday, Birthday!!!!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. Before we left for the Royal DeCamereon Papito and Papa geve her floweres. Them I rode my horse. Then we left and had some commotion at the hotel. We had dinner and went to the kids show. That was the hilight of my day.
Today I met a girl in the pool and we played for a while. we got in the ocean and we had lunch now Papa and Bubbe are sleeping.

TODAY

I am in Boquete, Panama. In the morning we went to Finca Lerida, that is a coffee plantation. We did a tour around it. Then we went to the restaurant and got tortillas and potatoes. After than we went to a walk in garden. It was beautiful. After that we went to find a restaurant called Il Pianista. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!!!! My mom and I shared a mozzarella cheese pizza. It was great. Bubbe got a ginormous calzone and Papa got a pizza with pina, cheese and peppers. We h ave leftovers. Now I am here at the hotel. BYE

My Last Day In Baltimore

Today was my last day in Baltimore, and was amazing! First we went to the aquarium, that has five levels. After that we went to the dolphin show. The dolphins names were Maya and Spirit. They did sooooooooooooooooooooo many tricks. We sat in the seats, called the Splash Zone that the dolphins get wet. We got wet when the dolphins did tricks. After the aquarium, we went to the Visitors Center and got tickets to get on the trolley. Then, we went to a food court and ate lunch. Bubbe got fried chicken and shrimp with noodles and rice. I got fried chicken with mashed potatoes. It was good!! When we were leaving, we passed a fudge place that people were singing at while they work and people looking at how the make fudge. We were going to get one bar, but the lady selling them was giving Bubbe deal after deal. So eventually we ended up buying three. Meanwhile, I was were they were showing us how to make the fudge, and they said they the louder you are the bigger your samples would be. Then we caught the trolley and we were the first ones there! The other two people came later. We went all around Baltimore, Little Italy, Mount Vernon, Fells Point, and some other place whose name I forgot. When we got off the trolley we went on a Water Taxi. That took us to across the water to Fells Point. When we got there, I saw a Maggie Moos. We decided to try it out because I have heard great things about it. My bubbe and I shared a banana split with Choco-Mallo, Fat Free Mango and Banana ice cream. On top there was whipped cream, hot fudge and a cherry. That was delicious!!!!!!! After that we walked and went back to the Inner Harbor. We ate at Phillips express and went to the lightrail to go to Lexington Market. We walked and saw Edger Allen Poe's grave. Then we walked back and took the lightrail to BWI. Bye sabina

Today

Today I went to a Museum and stayed there for three hours! It was soooo much fun!! Would you expect a child to love a museum?? No! Unless you were at the Maryland Historical Society. If you are a kid you get a Passport that takes you around the Museum and you have so much fun!!! Then we went to the Inner Harbor and had lunch (dinner).It was good and then we had a great dessert. My Day at the Zoo

Today was a fun day. We went to the zoo and I saw some of my favorite animals including Magnet the polar bear and the chimpanzees. The chimps were sooooooooooooo funny! Once they started fighting over ( you won't belive it) paper! And Magnet (the polar bear) was pacing because the zoo got a new female bear,and he could smell her and see her. He did go into his pool once. But here is a list of all the animals we saw.

Yesterday

Yesterday we rented a car and drove all the way from Maryland to Pennsylvania. We saw my cousins Johnneen and Ranney. They took us to an Amish place where you can take buggy rides and learn about the Amish and Mennonites. We took a buggy ride around Amish country and Molly(our horse) was a stubborn, slow, horse. She was slow even when we were an the road!!!!! But one stop along the way was fun. There was an Amish woman there selling chocolate chip cookies and decorative horseshoes. The cookies were delicious, crunchy where it needs to be and soft where it needs to be. When we finished we went to an Amish restaurant and had lunch. Then we went to a replica of an Amish house and I took lots of pictures. Then we went to Johneen and Ranney's house and ate dinner. After dinner we went outside and saw fireflies. They were better than fireworks. I caught a lot of those and as Johneen says ' She is training them to light up when they leave'. I loved it a lot. It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Washington

Today we went almost everywhere in Washington. And we did not use public transportation!!!!! we used our feet. We went to the Museum of Natural History(where Night at the Museum 2 will be filmed!!), we walked down the Mall, we went to the Holocaust Museum, Library of Congress and a little of the Capital. I am really tiered right now so I will see you tomorrow. BYE.
